Steel Cans and Packaging
The Most Recycled Food Package in The World
Steel cans are the most recycled food package in the world, giving steel an important role in providing sustainable packaging for foods that carry important nutrients essential to a healthy diet. According to a consumer survey commissioned by the Canned Food Alliance (CFA), Americans enjoy canned foods because of their convenience, value and ease of preparation.
Recent research also shows that canned foods provide needed nutrients often at a lower cost than fresh, frozen and dried forms, particularly when price, waste and time to prepare are considered. Many nutrition and health professionals, government officials and consumers know about the benefits of canned food, including its nutritional value, convenience, affordability, versatility, year-round availability, economic impact and sustainability. Educating these industries and stakeholders remains an important market goal.
