GDIS 2027 Call for Abstracts

Call for Abstracts: 25th Annual Great Designs in Steel™ Symposium 2027

Drive Innovation. Shape the Future. Present at GDIS™ 2027.

Are you advancing automotive design, product development, or manufacturing with steel? Submit an abstract to present at Great Designs in Steel™ 2027—the 25th Annual GDIS™ Symposium and the premier forum for practical automotive steel applications across vehicle design, production, and manufacturing.

GDIS™ 2027 welcomes abstracts from OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, steel producers, and research institutions that highlight practical steel applications, architecture and design insights, manufacturing solutions, and real-world case studies. Submissions do not need to feature a new OEM product launch; strong abstracts may show how steel and related solutions enable OEM design, product performance, manufacturing execution, or application-level problem solving.

GDIS Presentation Topics May Include:

  • Innovative steel applications in vehicle architectures, including body structure, closures, chassis, battery enclosures, and other systems where design and manufacturing decisions affect performance
  • Lightweighting strategies that connect material selection, part design, joining, forming, manufacturability, cost, and vehicle-level performance
  • AHSS and UHSS applications that demonstrate performance, manufacturability, durability, crash energy management, or production-readiness in an OEM context
  • Advanced joining, forming, tooling, assembly, and manufacturing solutions that show how steel innovations are implemented in production or near-production environments
  • Body-in-white, vehicle architecture, and system-level design approaches that connect steel solutions to OEM performance, manufacturability, assembly, and cost objectives
  • Sustainability and lifecycle performance of steel solutions

Event & Presentations Format:

GDIS™ features three concurrent technical tracks, offering a full day of presentations from across the automotive and steel industries.

Potential session formats include technical presentations, co-presented sessions, technical panel discussions, architecture or application-focused presentations, and vehicle and sub-component exhibits. Suppliers are encouraged to submit application-focused case studies and, where practical, co-present with OEMs to demonstrate how steel solutions are implemented in a production vehicle or manufacturing context.

Submit your abstract and help showcase the practical OEM design, product, and manufacturing applications shaping tomorrow’s vehicles.

Complete the abstract submittal form and email it to present@greatdesignsinsteel.com by Dec. 5, 2026.
