WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), today issued the following statement in reaction to the announcement that Congressman-elect Frank Mrvan (D-IN) has been selected to serve as a Co-Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus:
“AISI congratulates Congressman-elect Mrvan on being selected as the Co-Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus. We welcome his strong commitment to the steel industry and the nearly two million jobs our industry supports, and look forward to working closely with him to promote public policies that will further strengthen the domestic steel industry.
“Continuing our collaboration with the Caucus, in working with the congressman-elect and the rest of the Caucus leadership, is critical to advancing policies that create jobs in steel. We thank Caucus Co-Chairman Rep. Conor Lamb (D-PA), and Co-Vice-Chairmen Reps. Mike Bost (R-IL) and Rick Crawford (R-AR), for their unwavering support for the American steel industry and our workers, and for the strong bipartisan cooperation that has enabled the Caucus to be successful.
“AISI also would like to thank retiring Congressman Pete Visclosky (D-IN) for his long-time leadership of the Steel Caucus and steadfast support for the industry.”
