March Steel Shipments Up 9.8 Percent From Prior Month

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of March 2025, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,725,314 net tons, a 5.3 percent increase from the 7,338,349 net tons shipped in March 2024. Shipments were up 9.8 percent from the 7,035,936 net tons shipped in the previous month, February 2025. Shipments year-to-date in 2025 are 22,197,305 net tons, up 1.7 percent vs. 2024 shipments of 21,820,215 net tons for three months.
A comparison of shipments year-to-date in 2025 to the first three months of 2024 shows the following changes: cold-rolled sheet and strip were up 1 percent, hot-rolled sheet and strip were down 1 percent, and corrosion-resistant sheet and strip were down 2 percent.
