AISI Presents Rep. Terri Sewell With “Steel Champion Award”
January 11, 2024Washington, DC– The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) today presented Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL), a leading member of the Congressional Steel Caucus, with the “2024 Congressional Steel Champion Award” for her introduction of the “Leveling the Playing Field 2.0 Act.”
Rep. Sewell received the award in recognition of her continuous support of the American steel industry, in Alabama and across the nation. The award was presented in Rep. Sewell’s office on Capitol Hill today by Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of AISI.
“I am grateful to Congresswoman Sewell for her exceptional leadership and relentless commitment to supporting the American steel industry. She is a dynamic leader and vocal advocate for our industry and our workers. Her tireless efforts to combat unfair foreign trade practices and level the playing field for steel are a testament to her dedication to Alabama and the nation. This award is well-deserved, and we appreciate Congresswoman Sewell’s long-standing efforts on behalf of steel,” said Dempsey.
