AISI Presents Rep. Bill Johnson With “Steel Champion Award”
January 11, 2024Washington, DC– The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) today presented Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH), a leading member of the Congressional Steel Caucus, with the “2024 Congressional Steel Champion Award” for his introduction of the “Leveling the Playing Field 2.0 Act.”
Rep. Johnson received the award in recognition of his continuous support of the American steel industry, in Ohio and across the nation. The award was presented in Rep. Johnson’s office on Capitol Hill today by Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of AISI.
“We extend a heartfelt thank you and congratulations to Congressman Johnson on this award, and on his next chapter home in Ohio. I am honored to recognize him for his tireless dedication and steadfast support of the American steel industry during his many years in Congress. Rep. Johnson is a dynamic leader who has fought for a level playing field for steelworkers in Ohio and the rest of the country. His commitment not only advances the steel industry but also aids in securing a prosperous economic future for our country. This award is merited, and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors,” said Dempsey.
