AISI Releases Revised 2023 Steel Shipment Data

Down 0.8 Percent YTD in 2023 from Same Period in 2022

 WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) today released revised year-to-date 2023 steel shipments data as of October 2023 —which is the most recently available data collected. AISI reports that for the first 10 months of 2023, American steel mills shipped 75,080,374 net tons, down 0.8% vs. 2022 shipments of 75,675,222 net tons for ten months.

A revised comparison of shipments year-to-date in 2023 to the first ten months of 2022 shows the following changes: hot rolled sheet, up 12 percent, cold rolled sheet, up 2 percent and corrosion resistant sheet, up 1 percent.
