AISI Commends House Committee Passage of Water Resources Bill

July 14, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute, today applauded the passage of the Water Resources Development Act of 2026 (WRDA 2026) by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee:

“AISI commends the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for today’s bipartisan passage of the Water Resources Development Act of 2026 (WRDA 2026). The American iron and steel industry depends on a healthy, stable marine transportation system that relies on waterways, seaports, locks and dams —which are essential to transporting raw materials to steel plants and delivering finished steel products to customers across the country. AISI and our members support this legislation as it enables critical U.S. Army Corps of Engineers investment in repairs and construction of the important inland navigation projects that are necessary for the American steel industry’s competitiveness.”

AISI yesterday sent a Steelgram to members of the committee urging passage of the legislation.
