AISI Applauds Senate Confirmation Of Kimmitt To Lead ITA
July 29, 2025WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), welcomed Senate confirmation of William Kimmitt to serve as Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade:
“AISI congratulates Willliam Kimmitt on his well-deserved confirmation by the Senate to lead the International Trade Administration at the Department of Commerce. He brings a wealth of experience in trade policy and international negotiations that will be critical to advancing American interests in the global marketplace. He understands well the challenges facing American manufacturers — particularly in the steel sector — and we appreciate his commitment to vigorously enforcing the U.S. trade remedy laws and aggressively combating unfair trade practices that continue to impact the steel industry. AISI is confident that Mr. Kimmett will be a steadfast advocate for a strong and resilient American steel industry and we look forward to working with him and his team.”
