AISI Statement on the Passing of Thomas Carlisle Graham

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), today issued the following statement on the passing of Thomas Carlisle Graham:

“The steel industry has lost a great leader and pioneer. Tom Graham played a critical role leading and revitalizing several American steel companies over the course of his career and served as Chairman of the American Iron and Steel Institute from 1986-1989. He received numerous awards and accolades, including the industry’s highest honor, the Gary Memorial Medal, in 1989.

Mr. Graham’s Gary Medal inscription reads: ‘In recognition of his extraordinary achievements as an industry executive and in appreciation of his outstanding services to the American steel industry–services marked by unselfish contributions of time, energy and thought.’

We are thankful for Tom’s dedication and leadership in advancing the American steel industry. I extend my condolences to his family.”
