AISI Welcomes New Director, Officer To The Board
November 2, 2021WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute’s (AISI) Board of Directors today named Cleveland-Cliffs chairman, president and CEO Lourenco Goncalves as a vice-chairman of AISI; and elected Phil Piggott, vice president of sales and marketing at Carmeuse, as a new member of the Board of Directors. Piggott chairs the AISI Associate Member Committee and will represent AISI’s Associate Members on the AISI Board.
“Phil and Lourenco are experienced leaders in our industry. I look forward to continuing our successful work together to advocate for the interests of the American steel industry, our workers, and our customer and supplier partners,” said AISI Chairman and Nucor president and CEO, Leon Topalian.
AISI President and CEO Kevin Dempsey added, “Lourenco and Phil are both strong advocates, and they will serve as important assets to the Institute as we navigate this critical period in the history of our industry.”
The announcement took place at the Board of Directors meeting in conjunction with AISI’s 2021 General Meeting, held jointly with the Steel Manufacturers Association, in Washington, DC.
