WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of July 2017, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,480,241 net tons, a 3.3 percent decrease from the 7,736,846 net tons shipped in the previous month, June 2017, and a 1.7 percent increase from the 7,352,698 net tons shipped in July 2016. Shipments year-to-date in 2017 are 52,939,327 net tons, a 2.8 percent increase vs. 2016 shipments of 51,491,101 net tons for seven months.
A comparison of July shipments to the previous month of June shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 3 percent, cold rolled sheets, down 4 percent and hot rolled sheets, down 6 percent.
