WASHINGTON, D.C. – Thomas J. Gibson, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute, today commended the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit’s decision to suspend ongoing litigation against the Clean Power Plan (CPP):
“We welcome this news of the court granting the Trump administration’s request to pause the lawsuits on CPP. This will clear the way for EPA to fully take up the reconsideration of this regulation that could have put the affordability and reliability of electricity for steel producers at risk,” said Gibson. “Action by EPA to reconsider and revise this rule is critical to the international competitiveness of energy-intensive industries like steel. We urge the EPA to push for a remand of the rule and reconsider the measure as soon as possible.”
