The New Steel

Buildings

Steel’s presence in the built world is all about the client:  school teachers, mayors of cities, architects, kids, utilities, hospitals, urban planners, retail store owners--you name them.  What do we mean about steel being so client-friendly?  Its makes products essential to our quality of life, such as the homes we live in, schools for our children, office buildings where we work and the transportation systems that help get us there.

  • Steel is inherently sustainable—as an exceptional performer in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (rating system) by its percentage of recycled and its recycling rate.
  • What’s not to like? Both commercial and residential steel buildings and steel roofs offer energy-efficiency, longer life expectancy, low life-cycle costs and greater durability.
  • Steel creates aesthetically beautiful buildings. And it “Keeps America Beautiful,” by virtue of its green attributes. Architects love it for it’s versatility in design and consistency as a product.
