THOMAS J. GIBSON, President and CEO, American Iron and Steel Institute
Thomas J. Gibson served as Senior Vice President of Advocacy for the American Chemistry Council. Previously, Gibson served as the Senior Vice President, Government Affairs for the Portland Cement Association. Prior to joining PCA in 2004, Gibson served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Previously, Gibson was the associate administrator for the EPA’s Office of Policy, Economics and Innovation. Additionally, Gibson worked as majority deputy staff director and majority counsel from 1995-2001 for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. From 1993-1995, Gibson served private-sector clients in regulatory and legislative affairs with Don Clay Associates, Inc. He was with the EPA previously for two years as a congressional liaison specialist and the Raytheon Company for five years after service in the U.S. Navy from 1979-1985.
Gibson received his law degree from Georgetown University where he graduated magna cum laude. He holds a Master of Marine Affairs degree from the University of Rhode Island and a B.S. in Naval Architecture from the United States Naval Academy.
