National Council for Public-Private Partnerships (NCPPP)

American Iron and Steel Institute is a member of the National Council for Public-Private Partnerships (NCPPP).  Steel Market Development Institute (a business unit of AISI) Director for Public Policy serves on the NCPPP Board of Directors for Public Policy.  The mission of The National Council for Public-Private Partnerships is to advocate and facilitate the formation of public-private partnerships (PPPs) at the federal, state and local levels, where appropriate, and to raise the awareness of governments and businesses of the means by which their cooperation can cost effectively provide the public with quality goods, services and facilities.

Congress is seeking alternative methods to finance highway and transit projects over the next 5 years that may cost as much as $500 billion.  One method is to utilize (PPPs) where applicable.
AISI, along with representatives from (NCPPP), have been meeting with senior majority and minority staff members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the House Transportation Committee to provide detailed input on how Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) could be addressed in the upcoming transportation authorization bill.  These papers spell out those recommendations.
