WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) today presented Rep. Pete Visclosky (D-IN), vice-chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus, the “2016 Congressional Steel Champion Award” for his unwavering dedication to the American steel industry and its workers.

Visclosky received the award in recognition of his continuous support of the steel industry, both in his home state of Indiana and across the nation. The award was presented in Washington, D.C. at the fall meeting of AISI’s Policy and Planning Committee by Mario Longhi, president and CEO of United Steel Corporation, who chairs the Committee, and Thomas J. Rep. Visclosky stated, “I thank the American Iron and Steel Institute for this recognition and appreciate your constant advocacy and unwavering support for the American steel industry. I look forward to continuing to work with you to ensure that American steel companies and steelworkers are able to produce the highest quality steel and compete on a level playing field.”

“Congressman Pete Visclosky is a recognized leader on behalf of our industry. Throughout his career, he’s been an advocate in Washington for the men and women working in Indiana’s steel mills and mills all across the country. The 23,000 steel workers in Indiana, and all of us in the North American steel industry, are deeply grateful for his leadership,” said Mario Longhi, president and CEO of United States Steel Corporation and chairman of AISI’s Policy and Planning Committee.
