Steel Institute Board Hosts Congressional Guests

Congressmen Tom Reed (R-NY) and Tim Ryan (D-OH), co-chairs of the House Manufacturing Caucus, participated in a round table discussion with the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Board of Directors during the Winter Board Meeting on February 6 in Washington, D.C. The honored guests spoke at an informal breakfast session, fielding questions from steel executives concerning policies, legislation and regulations affecting the North American steel industry – primarily regarding the issues of tax and trade. The AISI Board of Directors later voted to approve the Institute’s 2014 Public Policy Agenda, part of an aggressive strategy by AISI and member companies to promote a pro-manufacturing agenda.

AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice. AISI also plays a lead role in the development and application of new steels and steelmaking technology. AISI is comprised of 24 member companies, including integrated and electric furnace steelmakers, and nearly 125 associate members who are suppliers to or customers of the steel industry. AISI's member companies represent approximately over three quarters of both U.S. and North American steel capacity. For more news about steel and its applications, view AISI’s Web site at
