WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) lauds Senators Rockefeller (D-WV), Sessions (R-AL), Brown (D-OH) and Toomey (R-PA) today as they announced the reinvigoration and leadership of the bipartisan Senate Steel Caucus.  Thomas J. Gibson, president and CEO of AISI, made the following statement:

“I commend Senators Rockefeller, Sessions, Brown and Toomey on their leadership in re-energizing the Senate Steel Caucus.  Their strong bipartisan leadership on legislation vital to the steel industry will ensure that steel remains the backbone of the U.S. manufacturing sector.  A strong steel industry is essential to the U.S. economy, as we directly employ 153,700 people and directly or indirectly support more than one million U.S. jobs.  The Senate Steel Caucus is critical to increasing American competiveness and supporting policies that create jobs.  AISI looks forward to continued collaboration with Senators Rockefeller, Sessions, Brown, and Toomey and the Senate Steel Caucus as we work to advance public policies that will promote American steel manufacturing competitiveness.”
