Gerdau will supply rebar for approximately 34,000 yards of concrete for a portion of the World Trade Center in New York.

The $7.35m contract with Navillus Inc represents Gerdau’s first major contract in the New York City market. The steel will be used in the structure of the World Trade Center Vehicle Security Center.

The steel is originating at Gerdau’s Sayreville, New Jersey mill and is being fabricated at its downstream facility in Perth Amboy, New Jersey where operations for the World Trade Center project began in January, Steel Business Briefing notes.
