FLORENCE, SC, March 6, 2017 – The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is hosting a webinar on “Wind Design Considerations for Joists and Joist Girders.” It is scheduled for Wednesday, March 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (EST), followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.
This webinar will provide a comprehensive review of wind forces on steel joist and Joist Girder roof systems, including wind load determination, wind load combinations and wind load application. Specification, analysis and design to resist uplift loads will be a primary focus, but the webinar will also look at load paths and connections for wind moment frames, collectors and braces.
Attendees will review the appropriate load combinations involving wind, and will be advised of two new developments affecting wind design. The webinar will discuss the appropriate load paths for wind forces, and presenters will provide tips for connection details for the transfer of wind forces.
Individual and site registration is now available online at steeljoist.org/marchwebinar. Individual registration cost is $75. Each person who registers will receive his or her own link to the webinar and earn 0.15 CEUs or 1.5 PDHs and receive a certificate of completion from SJI. Site registration is also available for $300, allowing multiple attendees from the same company to utilize one link to the webinar.
Besides setting standards for the steel joist industry, the Steel Joist Institute works closely with major building code bodies throughout the country helping to develop code regulations regarding steel joists and Joist Girders. The Institute also invests thousands of dollars in research related to steel joists and Joist Girders and offers a complete library of publications and other training, research and design aids. The Steel Joist Institute is a not-for-profit organization. For more information, visit www.steeljoist.org or join the Steel Joist LinkedIn group.
