Steel Institute to Co-Host Steel Day on Capitol Hill

Large Scale Bridge Models to be on Display in Rayburn Building
   
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 16, 2013 –The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in conjunction with the House and Senate Steel Caucuses and the National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA), will host a media event and bridge display on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in honor of SteelDay 2013.  The event will feature remarks by House Steel Caucus Chairmen Reps. Tim Murphy (R-PA) and Pete Visclosky (D-IN), and Roger Ferch, president of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Thomas J. Gibson, president and CEO of AISI, Randall Over, incoming president of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and others. 

Winners of the 2013 ASCE/AISC National Student Bridge Competition from the University of California – Berkeley will showcase their large-scale, 3-D, steel bridge designs during the event, as will the competition contestants from the University of Akron, University of Delaware and University of Maryland.

Who: Members of Congress from the House and Senate Steel Caucuses, the National Steel Bridge Alliance, the American Iron and Steel Institute, Engineering student teams from the University of California – Berkeley, the University of Akron, the University of Delaware, and the University of Maryland ASCE/AISC National Student Bridge Competition
