SMDI to Provide Steel Pole High Voltage Training Session for Linemen on November 14, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 6, 2012 – The Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI) will conduct a steel pole high voltage training session at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 for lineman from surrounding electric utility companies, students and instructors.  

The training session will be conducted by veteran lineman and safety consultant Gary McDonald, who has trained more than 2,500 student linemen, apprentices and journeymen, as well as 139 instructors, at 44 different training facilities and technical schools across the United States; and Danny Lonergan, distribution product manager at Valmont Industries, Inc. The session will consist of a two-hour classroom session followed by hands-on training in the yard.
