Greenfelder Joins Steel Market Development Institute as Manager, Communications – Automotive Market

DETROIT, Feb. 22, 2011 – The Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI) announced today the appointment of Jennifer L. Greenfelder as manager, communications - automotive market.  In this position, Greenfelder will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications, events, programs and technology transfer opportunities that promote steel’s advantages within the automotive marketplace. 

“With her prior knowledge of SMDI and automotive communications expertise, Jennifer is the ideal addition to the SMDI team,” Deanna Lorincz, senior director of communications, SMDI, said. “Jennifer has played a key role in supporting a variety of communications activities, such as our Great Designs in Steel seminar and Lawrence Technological University steel wheels design competition, and I look forward to expanding these outreach successes.”    

Previously, Greenfelder served as a senior account executive, at Bianchi Public Relations, Inc. in Troy, Mich.  She joined the agency in 2005 as an account coordinator and was promoted to assistant account executive in 2006 and account executive in 2007.

Prior to joining Bianchi PR, Greenfelder worked for the corporate communications and public relations department of DaimlerChrysler (currently Chrysler) Financial Services North Americas LLC in Farmington Hills, Mich. and then served as the marketing communications analyst for Mercedes-Benz Financial in Farmington Hills, Mich.  She began her PR career as an intern at John Bailey & Associates (currently Lambert, Edwards & Associates) in Troy and the Detroit Red Wings.

Greenfelder earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Wayne State University in Detroit. She is a member the Detroit Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, where she previously served as co-chair of the organization’s Automotive Council.
