Roofing
The standing seam metal roof is one of the most
exciting breakthroughs in roofing technology. It fulfills the building
owner's need for durable, puncture-resistant protection against the
weather, while working in concert with the forces of nature.
In new construction, metal roofs are used in approximately 50 percent
of all low-rise commercial, industrial and institutional buildings
erected during the last several years. They are on virtually every type
of building, from shopping centers to schools, churches to libraries,
skyscrapers to homes. Metal roofs account for over five billion square
feet of roofing, with the potential to capture a much larger share of
the commercial and residential building market. In re-roofing
applications, standing seam metal roofs are effective replacements for
built-up and single ply systems.
Homeowners are increasingly relying on metal roofs for their
durability and resistance to fire, wind, fire and insects. Metal roofs
last 40 to 60 years and beyond. As a member of the Metal Roofing
Alliance, AISI is committed to growing this market for steel.

Belfair, WA – Hailstorms can result in widespread damage to homes.
In a major hailstorm, the roof literally takes a beating. Hail can
break, split and cause tear-off damage to traditional roofing materials,
resulting in big repair or replacement costs. Homeowners looking for
eco-friendly solutions have discovered that metal roofs can protect
homes from many extreme weather events while reducing their carbon
footprint.
