AISI is a non-profit, non-partisan trade association
representing North
America's steel industries. Our
mission is to enhance the competitiveness of the steel industry, and to
promote steel as the material of choice for the world's
consumers.
Interns are an integral part of AISI's Public Policy
Team and gain a working knowledge of both the private and public sector.
While technically part of the private sector, aiding in the daily
representation of steel industry interests in Washington,
interns are involved in the action on Capitol Hill. The AISI Internship
Program strikes a balance between business and public policy
work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Tracking legislation
• Assisting with lobbying activities
• Conducting legislative research
• Attending and reporting on Congressional hearings
• Monitoring media sources for articles on the steel
industry
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Initiative
• Strong work ethic
• Sound research and writing skills
• Ability to work within a group and independently
• An interest in politics and government
• Computer skills
