Welcome Linemen!
 |
|
Increasingly, steel is becoming a material of choice
for distribution poles, as management and linemen at utility companies
realize its important cost, installation and maintenance benefits.
Today, more than 600 utility companies in the United States use steel
poles in their distribution systems. Some companies have converted
entirely to steel poles, based in large part on the recommendations of
their linemen who work with steel every day.

This site is designed to give you an understanding of steel distribution
poles, allow you to ask questions, and tell other linemen about your
experiences. This information supplements the training offered at an
AISI Lineman Training Workshop. The workshop, designed specifically for
linemen, was launched at Omaha Metropolitan Lineman Training
College in May 2005. Taught by veteran lineman, Gary McDonald, the
one-day, hands-on course will introduce you to the basics of climbing,
installing and drilling steel poles.
